RIP Oscar de la Renta

from Who What Wear
I know that by now this is old news, but I still wanted to dedicate a post to the late and great Oscar de la Renta. As most of you already know, he died this past week and he will be greatly missed by everyone from celebrities to designers to models to "normal" fashion aficionados like you and me.

I wanted to make a post to somewhat pay tribute to one of my favorite designers and probably one of the best the world has seen. He was a fashion luminary, setting trends and inspiring people in all walks of life. He dressed everyone, from Sarah Jessica Parker to Oprah Winfrey to Michelle Obama, and each time gave them the amazing gift of beauty, elegance, and classicism that we now know as uniquely de la Renta. Below, I've included some of my favorite pieces and moments from his over 50-year career. I'm going to lower it down to just the bare minimum for you guys, but if I actually included all of my favorites we would be here all day...

I hope you liked these little glimpses into the vast world of de la Renta. In case you're wondering, I got most of these from the OscarPRGirl Pinterest (which you should go follow if you haven't already).
Oscar, you will be missed.

  3. Thank you for this wonderful post! If I think about Oscar de la Renta I think about Sex and the City, too and the gorgeous bridal gown Carrie was wearing in her Vogue shooting. He was a genius.

  9. In my opinion, he is responsible for bringing those full skirts and long gowns into the classic American design canon. He was truly amazing.
