In the Studio of Zachary Fernandez

This past weekend I went over to my best friend/future couture designer Zachary's house to help him with some last minute fashion show preparations. While I was slaving away and inhaling probably more toxic paint fumes than what is healthy (when you can't find gold venetian lace and you want gold venetian lace, what does Zachary do? Paint white venetian lace gold with heavy duty paint at the expense of his and his best friend's health. Sigh.), I thought I'd show you around his studio and give you a sneak peek at his collection on display at the OSA fashion show (which I am also modeling in--more on that later).

I don't know why, but this grouping of undressed mannequins and dress forms really odd looking and fun, so I took a bunch of pictures of them. Also, these white curtains hide Zachary's boxes and boxes of fabric, buttons, pins, craft stuff, old collections, and other odds and ends. And yes, that is a poster from his trip to the Lady Gaga concert in the background. Sometimes I wonder about him...

One of my favorite pieces in his collection--this coat-dress goes over a ginormous hoop skirt and gold bodysuit. The theme for this year's show was Fashion and Fiction, so Zachary chose a book of fictional diary entries from Marie Antoinette and based his collection off of her life, but with a more modern twist. I can't wait to show you!

As I said earlier, I am modeling in this fashion show but not for Zachary. I'll be modeling for the fabulous Quin Sotelo who has a Swan Lake themed collection. I seriously can't wait to show you all of the beautiful pieces.

Said paint, lace, and fumes...I was so woozy I couldn't hold the camera steady.

What do you think of my friend's studio? I tried to take a picture of him but he said he wasn't looking fabulous enough so I had to refrain. However, you can check out his Lookbook here.

I promise I'll get backstage photos and coverage of all of the looks in the fashion show ASAP. I promise it's going to be amazing!

Be fabulous everyone!

  12. Great photos! Love the way you use the black and white, it captivates the mood and makes it look classic, modern and with a splash of vintag, of course, the Marie Antoinette piece and the lace designs contribute to that as well, even though I am his relative I am not biased, after after all, he IS the winner on Project Runway Threads! Thanks for sharing Audrey :) I love Zachary Fernandez Designs!
